Three years in the making, we’ll get a close-up view of a completely hand-lettered manuscript of all 28,000 words of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Using a facsimile of Dickens’ original manuscript as the source, the text is unedited and remains exactly as Dickens wrote it out. If you love the story or are a Dickens fan, you’ll get a fascinating look inside this rendition of his famous work. Although the story is a favorite of young and old, and many of us have read or seen movies or plays of the book, there were a few surprise scenes contained in the original manuscript that are not included in many of the modern day renditions. This classic Christmas tale is ageless – as relevant today as when it was written in 1843. Grab your favorite holiday beverage and join us as Maryanne Grebenstein reveals details about the process of designing a large-scale lettering project such as this, and shows decorated pages from her manuscript that have been rendered using the same techniques employed by scribes of famous manuscripts throughout the ages.
