Book Trips

Prior to the pandemic, The Abbey Studio organized trips—both domestic and international—to various museums and libraries for the purpose of viewing illuminated manuscripts. Previous trips have included visits to the British Library in London, Trinity College Library in Dublin, Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, Musée de Cluny in Paris, Scriptorial d’Avranches in Avranches (France), The Morgan Library in New York City, The Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Boston Public Library’s Rare Book Room, and others.

It is our hope that we will be able to return to scheduling these trips in the future, but at present they have been suspended. To be the first to know about upcoming book trips, please subscribe to our newsletter. Learn more about our past trips below!

Classroom Abroad

Prior to the pandemic, The Abbey Studio organized Calligraphy Study Abroad trips to La Napoule in Madelieu, France to live as artists-in-residence for ten days. Situated directly on the Mediterranean in the South of France, we enjoyed guided studio time (led by Maryanne Grebenstein) each morning at the château, afternoons of free time to explore and enjoy the breathtaking surroundings, and elegant dinners served in the château’s Gothic Dining Room.

It is our hope that we will be able to return to scheduling these trips in the future, but at present they have been suspended. To be the first to know about upcoming Classroom Abroad opportunities, please subscribe to our newsletter. Learn more about our Classroom Abroad experiences below!
